I would like to introduce myself I am Dean Dennis. I have recently accepted the responsibility as the ORTA Regional Liaison for part of the South Western region of Ohio. I am the liaison for Butler, Darke, Hamilton, Preble, and Warren Counties.
Briefly what this means is that I am available to aide local chapters with membership, ORTA and STRS information, including communicating local chapter needs and interests to ORTA, leadership training, and reporting the accomplishments and of local chapters.
What I need is for you to contact me regarding chapter meetings for 2021-2022. I would like to attend a meeting in September, if possible to introduce myself. I would really like to have lunch with yourself and some of your Board members.

From the past HCRTA president, Michael L. Ward
“In winter, I plot and plan. In Spring, I move”
By Henry Rollins
“Charles Dickens walked into a bar. The Bartender said: “Olive or Twist”?
I am going to miss sharing my thoughts in the HCRTA newsletters. And it is almost Spring! My first thought: Wellyn Collins is going to make a wonderful HCRTA President.
So this is my “swan song”? I have enjoyed my tenure as HCRTA president, I had the opportunity to make new friends with many retired teachers, tell a few (?) bad jokes, and implement some ideas. I can’t really say or describe what my legacy as HCRTA President is, but my thought is: “I didn’t leave things any worse, or mess up too badly”. Most of the complaints, I received were regarding my jokes or deceased people receiving the HCRTA newsletters. Our membership has gone up and we are very financially sound.
I keep thinking about the retired teachers we have lost over the years. Especially the HCRTA Board members, such as Charles, Sheila, Lou, and Lillie.
I’ll will continue to update facebook and the HCRTA website. I plan on contributing time to the Meyer’s School House renovation at Heritage Village. I am very passionate about being an OLLI moderator. And of course there is a “new love”, in my life!
As I ride off into the sunset, I am another year older but not necessarily any wiser.
As they say, especially for men “there is no fool like an old fool”, and I certainly have hit that mark!
I leave the HCRTA Presidency with fond memories and experiences.
“Enjoy life! It has an expiration date!”
